Treatment Options

PSYCHIATRIC ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION - 50 MINUTES

During the comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, we will explore your developmental, medical, and family histories, the social and environmental contributors to symptoms and recovery, your academic/work concerns, as well as your emotional and cognitive (thinking) strengths and weaknesses. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners prescribe medications and other medical interventions.

MEDICATION MANAGEMENT OR OTHER TREATMENT 

​

While there are some mental health disorders that may require medication management, other disorders may be treated with alternative medicine. We recognize that not everyone needs or desires to take medication, thus alternative treatment options including but not limited to psychotherapy, support groups and mindfulness activities are some other options that may be explored in your treatment plan.  It may be appropriate and often recommended to combine traditional medicine with alternative medicine or additional counseling/psychotherapy. We pride ourselves in providing individualized, person centered care that is specifically designed to each patient’s personal needs.  Treatment may consist of a single short-term regime for some or may consist of a more complex long-term regime for others. In either case, we are here to help and provide solutions in your healing and recovery to promote your optimal health and wellbeing

TELEPHONE CONSULTATION

Many times a call to the office and speaking with Candace, our office administrator, may resolve your question or concern. If there needs to be a brief phone consultation with Dr. Costa the following rates may apply:

5 MINUTES (MINIMUM CHARGE)  $25

10 MINUTES  $50

15 MINUTES  $75

 

There are times when working with children that a series of psychological testings are recommended by a licensed Psychologist. These tests include:

1. Clinical Interview

2. Assessment of Intellectual Functioning

3. Personality Assessment 

4. Behavioral Assessment

REFERRAL FOR NERUO-PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING

Although there are many basic screening tests that can be performed by Dr. Costa during or in a designated appointment time, there are occasions when adults experiencing forgetfulness or cognitive impairments may require a series of psychological tests that are performed by a licensed Psychologist. These tests may include:
